i wanted a break from the casting projects and hadnt worked on my buttons in a while so tonight i made this little mount. now i can smooth and file and clean those little pieces of bone that i used to burn my fingers with. less burnt bone smell too now.

been making boxes to try to organise the bsa engine parts and keep stuff from rattling off the grinder. got a felt buffing wheel too so things will be extra shiny now. worked on making more button blanks and made some more jajoba beeswax stuff too! its gift exchange time.

cow bone scrimshaw buttons
I am really into these buttons. the dogs can go through a bone in a few hours and now they aren't going to waste. i have to get a better set up for working with them though. Turns out that scrimshaw is really hard and grinding bone smells really bad. i think these will get a beeswax rub down.

this weeks projects
started getting the hollow grind on a razor, made a balance board from my old deck and a post i pulled out of a log jam at the river and it works great! started on some bone buttons that stunk up the shed when i cut them out and rough ground em. also made a bench/step out of some beams i also pulled out of the log jam in the river. i want to laquer it and make some better legs but so far so good. its a pretty good hike from the river to the road and carrying that 4x14 on my shoulder and trying to not fall through the snow was fun. my shoulder is still sore.
