aluminum flex fin

Hand filed this slab of 6061 and it goes pretty nice in the little surf I tested it out in. Still have some stuff I want to do to it but here's a bunch of foiling photos

surfboard stuff

Ever since I moved back to the beach surf stuff has been mainly all Iv been working on. Most of my metal tools are still in Tahoe n re becoming a surf turkey has been pretty fun. Lately I pinstriped my mandala arc swallowtail my neighbor shaped and threw a layer of glass on a taiwanise pop out I didn't want to pressure ding and snap the first week I rode it. I'm stoked on the lines but other than the strength the new glass added I don't really like the color or the design. Oh well its extremely fun

ctional though. And I don't notice any significant added weight

pine board

So my little brother and I started shaping this board last year I think. It got put on the back burner until recently n I shortened it up and finished shaping and glassed it w 1 oz glass. 1 oz sucks to glass with by the way. Super tight weave doesn't like to drape that much n it puckered n creased a ton. But long story short this board is super fun and iv gotten a ton of waves on it so far and the flex feels really good. Doesn't do floaters as well as the mini though. Or go backside as nice. But front side it holds great!

aluminum handplane clean up

grinding welds and wet sanding. hopefully the neighbors had something better to do today than listen to the high pitched whine of an air tool and the constant pounding of a compressor. have little pinholes and cracks to re weld and some more shaping and work on the bunghole. ha! it didnt really float when i took it out at beacons with raw welds. maybe once its all smoothed out it will.
