I moved from Tahoe back to leucadia. We had a storm that held me back from leaving so I did some bondo n paint work. Road trip took 17 hours! Van did great. Cruised at 40 mph the whole time

cast aluminum air cleaner bell

i dropped my camera in the toilet so the early parts of making these things went un documented. i threw the master on the wheel out of b mix clay and then made a plaster mold of that. then made waxes and dipped them and melted out the wax and then poured in aluminum and knocked off the shell after they cooled put it on the lathe and trimmed and drilled and now it sits in the vans doghouse on top of the little carter yf carb. could also be drilled for a moto carb. i made 3. they were lost wax cast cause thats what we do in school but sand casting would work better for this style.

Three point seat belt mount

I was trying to get to Bandit town in my van last weekend and I wasnt gunna try without a real seatbelt.  i boxed in the panel behind my seat with angle iron that i had to curve to fit the pocket. and then welded up rectangular tubing with threaded bungs to mount the brackets to. also put a mesh belly pan in too to protect the rad and direct air better. all in all i did the brakes, got it aligned, bunch of previous stuff and packed up a killer set of tools and stuff i needed. on the way to fill up the tank the van started running really rich and i had to abandon the idea of taking it.

Trying to get the van road ready and i needed a spare tire. 2 for $20 from the same guy i got my bench seat from! its gunna sit inside the van so i threw some lines on it. also zapped up a quick coolant overflow tank out of cheap water bottle.

one of the last things i need to get my van registered in ca as a passenger vehicle is a bench seat. i dont have any stock mounts so i made these out of some mild and 4130 steel. they still need to be taken out and sandblasted and painted but that will happen when the van gets paint.

oil gage mounted

oil pressure gage mount.

the old nylon line broke and im going to re do it in copper. I want to mount it to the doghouse instead of the dash so the line will be shorter. bent up some steel and made this train looking thing.

van hinge pin replacement

my hinges were blown out so i drilled them out and replaced them with chrysler hinge pins. ended up having to take the door off the van to weld up some cracks too. soo gnarly wrestling that thing all by myself. barely got it all back together and back on the van before 11 tonight.

rust repair on the van

one of the door pillars had some bad rust. cut it out and bent up some new metal. my little flux core mig sucks so i had to finish it with terrens welder. he took some of the photos and did some welding too. Its nice working in the shade.

skate wheel shift knob

lathed up this little adapter so i could fit a skate wheel on the lever. 3 on the tree! lathed the wheel a bit too.

new bench seat and ripping out old carpet

tore out a lot of really dusty gross carpet and insulation and a wood bed thing. found something that you would expect in a van like this. also picked up a bench seat that amazingly is for my van and looks great!  even has the mounting hardware.
